Position: Physical Therapist Assistant in a School Setting

Schedule: Part time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for our school-based therapy program. The Physical Therapist Assistant will support our Lead Physical Therapist in providing physical therapy services to students with disabilities and special needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with other members of the school staff, including teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, to help students achieve their full potential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Lead Physical Therapist to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students as directed by the IEP.
  • Provide treatment to students using a range of techniques and equipment, such as therapeutic exercises, stretches, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound.
  •  Document progress and outcomes of treatment sessions and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate with parents and other professionals to discuss student progress, goals, and needs.
  • Collaborate with other members of the school staff to integrate therapy goals into the student's academic and daily routine.
  • Attend student meetings, including IEP meetings, and provide reports as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in physical therapy, special education, and related fields.

Qualifications:

  •  Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
  •  Valid State Physical Therapist Assistant License.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in a school setting.
  •  Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with parents, students, and other professionals.
  •  Knowledge of IEP implementation and adherence.
  •  Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities and special needs preferred.
  •  Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
